Brief Description

To work as part of a pharmacy team under the supervision of the registered pharmacist, to ensure an accurate, timely, high quality dispensary / counter service is provided to our customers in a caring, friendly and professional manner.

Qualifications Required

GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English.

Skills Required

We are in an area with a large number of Spanish and Portuguese speakers so the ability to speak one or both of these languages will be a great advantage. If you do speak Spanish and/or Portuguese and do not have any Medicines Counter Assistant training, this will be provided.

Training to be Provided

Retail Level 2 Apprenticeship + 2 GPhC Accredited Courses delivered by the National Pharmacy Association (NPA) Medicines Counter Assistant and Accredited Dispensing Assistant Course.

Progress in the organisation to dispensing optician or pharmacy counter and dispensary assistant.

Vacancy Detail

You will complete the following:

Retail Level 2 Apprenticeship + 2 GPhC Accredited Courses delivered by the National Pharmacy Association (NPA) Medicines Counter Assistant and Accredited Dispensing Assistant Course.

NPA Courses will commence around 8 weeks after you have been enrolled on the Retail Level 2 Apprenticeship. NPA Courses must be completed within the first 12 months of employment at the Pharmacy.

Your Retailer Level 2 Apprenticeship will be delivered by Qube Learning who are a National Training Provider. As a student within Qube Learning you will have a dedicated Skills Tutor who will visit you every 4-6 weeks and deliver a bespoke teaching and learning session.

Your Apprenticeship Training Programme + NPA Courses should be completed in around 15 months. Functional Skills (Maths and English) may form part of your programme.

To assist the pharmacy manager and the optician manager in providing a confidential, friendly, efficient and professional healthcare service to the local community. To deal with customer queries and requests in relation to the sale of over the counter medicines and prescriptions in a polite and courteous manner. To manage the pharmacy shop counter sales with the help of an automated ordering and stock control system, training for which will be fully provided.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serving customers and making sales
- Ordering, receiving and managing stock
- Merchandising & display
- Undergo relevant training to work as part of a team
- Ensuring patients receive a friendly and attentive service
- Communicating with patients regarding prescriptions and over the counter queries
- Supporting the delivery of professional services in the pharmacy
- Assisting in improving over the counter sales
- Maintaining a clean and tidy working environment at all times
- Operating a till and cash handling
- Answering the phone and taking messages
- Stock management ? including checking goods in, placing orders and date checking
- Medication deliveries to patient?s homes
