Brief Description

To work as part of a pharmacy team under the supervision of the registered pharmacist, to ensure an accurate, timely, high quality dispensary / counter service is provided to our customers in a caring, friendly and professional manner. Duties will include working over the phone and via email in advising and dispensing.

Qualifications Required

GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English.

You will complete the following:

Customer Service Level 2 Apprenticeship + 2 GPhC Accredited Courses delivered by the National Pharmacy Association (NPA) Medicines Counter Assistant and Accredited Dispensing Assistant Course.

NPA Courses will commence around 8 weeks after you have been enrolled on the Customer Service Level 2 Apprenticeship. NPA Courses must be completed within the first 12 months of employment at the Pharmacy.

Your Retailer Level 2 Apprenticeship will be delivered by Qube Learning who are a National Training Provider. As a student within Qube Learning you will have a dedicated Skills Tutor who will visit you every 4 - 6 weeks and deliver a bespoke teaching and learning session.

Your Apprenticeship Training Programme + NPA Courses should be completed in around 15 months. Functional Skills (Maths and English) may form part of your programme.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

Making bulk orders for drugs
Sorting through drug deliveries and ensuring that the invoice matches the order
Stocking shelves of depleted drugs and storing excess
Conducting inquiries into patient payment - establishing exemptions
Scanning EPS that are exempt and claiming costs through RxWeb
Maintaining count of the number of FP10s processed each month
Sorting through FP10s, ready to deliver to relevant surgeries
Receiving phone calls and addressing patient queries
Emailing requests for prescriptions to patients' surgeries
Liaising with surgeries or drug manufacturers to resolve any errors, make changes, etc.
Assisting pharmacist in acute drug dispensing
Dispensing drugs for nomad patients and ensuring their tray arrangement matches that of their prescription
Dispensing prescriptions on RxWeb for nomad trays
Completing code checks within set intervals to ensure drugs on shelf are in date and to dispose of those that have expired
Assisting the Managing Director, the pharmacist and dispensers in other administrative tasks
Calling patients to nominate VIP as their pharmacy
Maintaining good housekeeping - hoovering and clearing bins
To ensure that the pharmacy environment is welcoming, clean and professional and communicate with customers in a professional and friendly manner
To receive prescriptions from customers and ensure they are dispensed in a timely manner
To inform the customer of approximate waiting times and to manage their expectations
To ensure the safe and correct transfer of dispensed items to patients
To identify medicine related problems or queries and bring these to the attention of the pharmacist
To assist in providing pharmaceutical care to patients by carrying out reasonable duties as determined by the pharmacist
Ordering repeat requests
Making up dossett boxes
Date checking the dispensary and counter products

This apprenticeship has expired
